Spotify for Android devices finally added a much-needed feature to the mobile application, a sleep timer. It allows users to select for how long they would like music to continue until it automatically shuts off, as per a report by Android Police on May 24, 2019. Luckily, you can now use a Spotify sleep timer that lets you choose how long Miranda's sweet, sweet voice coaxes you into slumber for before it turns itself off. But here's the thing — you actually.
This has nothing to do with PowerPoint or presentations, but it is an amazing tip for those that use Spotify and have noticed it is missing a sleep timer option (which I have!).

Scenario 1: You are deep into developing an amazing PowerPoint presentation and have some great inspiration music playing. You have a meeting to attend, so having the music stop would be a great reminder to save your work and leave (and much less jarring than an alarm going off).
Spotify's Sleep Timer feature has been available in its Android app since July, but iPhone and iPad users can now enjoy it as well. That's after the Spotify app received a new update giving it parity with Android. The feature does exactly what it sounds like it should. Scroll down a bit and tap on Sleep Timer (with crescent moon icon). Finally, set the Spotify sleep timer between 5 minutes to 1 hour. Once you have selected time, you will get a confirmation saying, “OK, your sleep timer is set.” That’s it! You are now good to go. The music will be automatically stopped after the stipulated time. The new sleep timer feature is coming first on Android. It means when you go to bed, you can start listening an album or a playlist and stop to playing them with the support of the sleep timer after a certain duration. Scenario 2: You are in noisy hotel and having music to mask the noise would be great, as long as you have a sleep timer to turn the music off in a few hours.
Unfortunately, the Spotify app does not have a sleep timer function. Luckily, this great hack leverages the built-in iOS timer to control Spotify.
Action Steps, on iPhone or iPad
- Search for “Timer” and open it, or, open the Clock app and go to the Timer icon at the bottom.
- Set the time for music to play.
- Change the “When Timer Ends” (and this is the secret setting!) to STOP PLAYING by scrolling to the very bottom of the list of options.*
- Click START
- Go back to Spotify, enjoy the music and let iOS turn off the music when the timer runs out!
*Note: This feature also works with Apple Music, Spotify, and all other audio enabled apps.
Happy listening!
All of us love to listen to music, however, not every one of us is comfortable with sharing our playlist with other music lovers. Though it won’t make any change, few of us like to keep the list as private as we can. If you are a music maniac and a user of the Spotify app (an Online music streaming platform and one of the most popular music apps in the world), you will definitely remember the update of the “Private Session” feature a few months back.
Here we will discuss the Private Session feature along with the latest update i.e. “Spotify Sleep Timer”. Yes!! You can now put the sleep timer in your music app, which stops the music playback after a specific time. Initially, it was compatible with Android, and now the company has made this option available on iOS as well.
Let’s discuss these features below:
1. Spotify “Private Session”
Everyone likes privacy, no matter if it affects the other person or not. A few months back music lovers got a surprise from their music provider company when Spotify rolled out the private session feature in the app. This feature lets you browse your liked tracks privately, which makes it trendy feature in today’s world where everything you do/write on your phone/laptop/Mac gets tracked on some server or the other.
Since Spotify is the platform that is open, and anyone who is following you on the app can easily see what you are up to. So, there are many ways to hide your browsing activity.
A. Hiding Your Activities On Spotify – The whole point is to go in the dark or hiding your activities so that no one can capture you. For example, you can disable your listening activity which will disable the option to show your tracks to someone else. Enabling Private Session and Make Secret will give you a good time period window where nobody could track your activities and you are free to explore the world of music without being tracked.

Wrapping Up
Since the feature is just released, it might take some time for the feature to come on iOS devices. But rest assured, you definitely will enjoy this amazing update very shortly.
Though we all know how peaceful and refreshing music can be, we don’t realize how long before we have slept listening to our liked tracks. Sometimes, it’s annoying that we have to get in the night to switch it off. By this feature, a predecided timer will be set and we won’t have to worry about switching it off.
